Newcastle's crushing victory over Tottenham has all-but confirmed the signing of Lewis Hall on a permanent basis from Chelsea.

Newcastle can no longer finish lower than 14th in the Premier League after their 4-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.

As a result, Hall's loan from Chelsea will be made permanent in the summer for a fee of £28million.

The 19-year-old signed for the Magpies on loan from Chelsea last summer with an obligation to buy if they finished higher than 15th.

Speaking after the win against Tottenham, Hall revealed he was excited for the future at St. James' Park.

He said: "I am here now as a Newcastle player and I really enjoy it.

"The future looks really good for the club with so many young and talented players. It is going in the right direction."

It is now mathematically impossible for Eddie Howe's side to finish any lower, with this being the only criteria necessary, not appearances.

Hall came on late against Spurs, who made his 16th appearance of the season in the process.

The teenager has been largely left on the sidelines this season by Howe, raising suspicions that he might be sent back to Chelsea at the end of the campaign.
