The acclaimed Telugu film Jersey (2019)—helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri—is preparing for a theatrical re-release. The plot revolves around the relationship between a father and son, featuring Nani in a memorable lead role as Arjun. In 2022, Tinnanuri helmed the Hindi remake, starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, though it failed to create any impact.
'Jersey' to return to theaters on April 20
The re-release of Jersey is scheduled for April 20, coinciding with the film's fifth anniversary. This move provides an opportunity for fans who missed the original release to watch the film in theaters. The movie was bankrolled by Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainment and features music by Anirudh Ravichander. Written and directed by Tinnanuri, the film also stars Shraddha Srinath, Ronit Kamra, and Harish Kalyan, among others in key roles.

Jersey has distinguished itself in the sports drama genre, earning recognition at the 2021 National Film Awards. In a breakthrough, the film won the Best Feature Film in Telugu and Best Editing awards. Motivated by his son's wish for a cricket jersey, Arjun embarks on a journey to make a comeback to the sport during his mid-30s, aspiring to represent the Indian cricket team. Fun fact: A pivotal cricket match sequence reportedly required 24 days of shooting, and a staggering 130 professional cricket players were enlisted to serve as extras.
Nani's upcoming projects post 'Jersey' release
Following the release of Jersey, Nani has explored various genres in his acting career. He is currently working on a project titled Saripodhaa Sanivaaram under director Vivek Athreya, marking their second collaboration after Ante Sundaraniki. The film features SJ Suryah, Priyanka Mohan, and Sai Kumar in significant roles. Additionally, Nani has committed to another film with Saaho and OG director Sujeeth, tentatively titled Nani32, and will reunite with Srikanth Odela for Nani33.
