UNDERWATER ROBOTICS WORKSHOPS: The Galway Public Library, 2112 East Street, Galway, is hosting a workshop series for teens in middle school and older titled Underwater SeaPerch Robotics. SeaPerch is an international program that gives teens an opportunity to be part of a real-world engineering and design project to build an underwater ROV (robot). The first session will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 10-3. The other four sessions will be April 20, May 18, June 1, and June 15. Attendance at every session is not required. SUSTAINABILITY FAIR: Sustainable Saratoga and Skidmore College invite you to join us for the Saratoga Sustainability Fair on April 13, from 10-3 at Skidmore College in the Case Center. The Sustainability Fair is a free community event celebrating sustainability awareness and opportunities. Come check out sustainable resources all in one spot and help make our community a more sustainable place to live and work. GRANT COTTAGE MEETING: The Friends of the Ulysses S. Grant Cottage are holding their

ROAD RALLY: Friends of the Mohawk Towpath Byway, Mohawk-Hudson Region Sports Car Club of America is hosting a road rally on April 14. Mohawk Towpath Byway Road Rally is a 60+/- mile game, tour, adventure (GTA) along the Mohawk and Hudson Valleys showcasing the importance the Erie and Champlain Canals routes played in the area’s history. Commemorating the history, heritage, and culture of the canals, the rally demonstrates the connectivity between recreation areas and communities and between waterways and land trails. The rally is planned and held under the supervision of the Mohawk-Hudson Region Sports Car Club of America. Registration opens at 9am, Driver/ Navigator meeting at 9:50am, first car off at 10:05am. Event has a three hour time limit followed by a catered lunch and awards ceremony in the barn at the Mabee Farm. Open to individuals and families of all ages, minimum entry must include a driver and a navigator. Each team will need the following: entry fee of $25, camera with digital display, internet access, and a GPS unit, or a smartphone or tablet with these capabilities. FOREST BATHING: At Moreau Lake State Park, 9am. The spring equinox will kick off our weekly forest bathing once again! Coined shinrin-yoku in Japan in the 1980’s, forest bathing is the ecotherapeutic practice of spending time immersed in nature, absorbing it with all of your senses. The physiological and psychological benefits last for days afterward with the additional benefit of a new appreciation of our precious woodland and its inhabitants. This is a beginner-rated walk along the Nature Trail with long pauses to sit and enhance our awareness of our surroundings and it is approximately a 2-hour program. A small mat is beneficial to ensure a dry seat. This program is limited to those age 14 and up. Pay $5 per person (cash or check) at the office upon arrival. NATURE JOURNALS: At Moreau Lake State Park, 11am. Join an educator for World Art Day in making your own nature journal. Nature journals are a great way to write down your discoveries and engage in the world around you. If you are able, we will go on a short walk to get a start on those journals. SARATOGA SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MEETING: Saratoga Springs City Council meetings are regularly scheduled for 7 pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 474 Broadway in Saratoga Springs. Meetings are held in the Council Room at City Hall at this time. Meetings are open to the public, and admission into the room will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Check the meeting agenda for times of Public Hearings. The Ramp Door on the Broadway entrance to the building will be open for public access at 6:30 pm and earlier for special schedules. HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING: Town of Greenfield Historical Society will meet at 7pm at the Town of Greenfield Community Center, 25 Wilton Rd., Greenfield Center. Program: “Ice Harvesting” hosted by Tom Ragosta, President of the Watervliet Historical Society and Watervliet City Historian.The program will include a brief history of ice harvesting during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as well as the process used in storing natural ice. The program will include a display of various artifacts used in the ice harvesting process. Event is free and open to the public.

TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER: The Saratoga County History Center is hosting Trivia Night at historic Anne’s Washington Inn, 111 South Broadway Saratoga Springs, on Tuesday, April 16 from 6-9pm. This event, to support the programs of Brookside Museum, will include an Italian style buffet dinner generously provided by Mama Mia’s Restaurant, dessert, and coffee. A cash bar for beer and wine will be available to our guests age 21 and over. Doors open at 5:30PM, and dinner will begin at 6PM. Well-known local Trivia Night host Casey Blum, “That NY Trivia Guy” will open the friendly competition beginning at 7 pm. LVW PRESENTATION: The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County and the Unitarian Universalist Church in Saratoga Springs will hold a presentation about Medical Aid in Dying for New York, by David Pratt, MD, former Schenectady County Commissioner of Public Health Services. The program will be held on April 17th at 7:00 pm at Unitarian Universalist Church, 624 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, and is open to the public.

ASTRONOMY CLUB MEETING: The next meeting of the Galway Public Library Astronomy Club will be held on Wednesday, April 17th from 6:30-7:30 pm. We will review our moon challenge results and photos taken during the solar eclipse. Michael Noonan will give a presentation on “Amateur Astro Photography,” and he will share photos of his comet and star tracking experiences. Teens and adults are welcome to join. FILM SCREENING: The Tang Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announces “Framing the Flesh,” a series of films shown over three nights on March 28, April 4, and April 18 that explore our relationship with our bodies and unconventional bodily alterations. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Abject Anatomy,” the screening series is the capstone project by Piper Ingels ’24, the 2023-24 Meg Reitman Jacobs ’63 Endowed Intern at the Tang. These films contain material of a highly sensitive nature including language, nudity, violence, gore, and disturbing content. The screenings are free and open to the public. HISTORICAL LECTURE: Join the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation and the Saratoga Joinery on Thursday, April 18 at 7 pm for the in-person program, “On this Spot: 69 Caroline Street” for an in-depth look at the history of 69 Caroline Street. Carol Godette will discuss the various uses of the 1880s brick duplex, from its early functions to its newest iteration as Saratoga Joinery, a community woodworking space. This program is limited to 45 attendees. The program cost is $20 for SSPF and Joinery Members and $25 for Non-Members. Proceeds from this event will be shared between SSPF and Saratoga Joinery. WIGGLY WANDERERS: At Moreau Lake State Park, 9:30am. Wiggly wanderers is a casual and fun program that is offered to walking toddlers, carriable babies and their caregivers. This will be a beginner’s hike/wander series for toddlers who are ready to move and caregivers who are willing and able to baby wear and/or carry their toddler if their legs get too tired. We will not plan too much distance walking and we will rely on teachable moments to carry us through these experiences. Strollers will not work for these programs. While you do not need to attend each week, we will continue to build our toddlers hiking skills as well as their caregivers’ confidence taking the children into the woods to explore. This event does not have sign ups, please come if you can. We meet at the nature center parking lot. $1 per child. For any questions call 518-793-0511.

REVOLUTIONARY TEA AND GARDENING: At Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave Ballston Spa, 2pm. Join Master Gardener Kathleen Royka in the Long Room at Brookside Museum, on the 249th anniversary of The Battles of Lexington and Concord, for a celebration and taste of Revolutionary Teas. The program will discuss the Boston Tea Party and its effects on the colonists, the plant Camellia sinensis (tea) and substitutes for tea, including local variations, after the Boston Tea Party. (And see how the Brookside gardens are faring after winter). Program is free and open to all. Any donations are gratefully received and will be used on the gardens.

THEATER PERFORMANCE: For two weekends starting on Friday, April 19th, Home Made Theater will present “The Humans” written by Stephan Karam. Winner of the 2016 Tony Award for Best Play, “The Humans” is filled with equal parts humor and hurt. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, April 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th at 7:30PM, and Sundays, April 21st and 28th at 2:00PM. There will be a Thursday at 7:30 performance on April 25th. All performances are at the Dee Sarno Theater, inside Saratoga Arts, 320 Broadway in Saratoga Springs. HERITAGE HUNTERS MEETING: This month’s presentation is “Did you know that your ancestors had a Fan Club?” For people interested in “genealogy and local history,” Heritage Hunters will meet on Saturday, April 20th, at 1 pm at the Town of Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring St. in Schuylerville. A Fan Club is a circle of Family/Friends, Associates and Neighbors who can help you fill in information that might be missing in your research. Lisa Dougherty, professional genealogist, will help you take the steps to identify them and show you how to use that information in your family tree. EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: Sustainable PR and the Glens Falls Earth Day Planning Committee proudly present our fourth-annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20th, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Please come to the nature center to work on a craft reusing commonly recycled items. This craft will be led by your imagination and artistic vision. We will provide the materials. If you have a vision but need something from your own recycling bin, please feel free to bring it along. This program is free and does not require sign ups.

ANTIQUE CLOCK AND WATCH SHOW: Sponsored by the Monday Night Clock Group, at Burnt Hills Baptist Church – 195 Kingsley Road, Burnt Hills. 10 am to 3 pm, Public invited free of charge. CCE BANQUET: Cornell Cooperative Extension Saratoga County is hosting its 23rd Annual New York State 4-H Shooting Sports Banquet and Auction. PARK CLEAN UP: Volunteers of all ages are invited to take part in a park-wide clean-up at Hudson Crossing Park in Schuylerville on Sunday, April 21 from 10am – 1pm. The clean-up day is in recognition of Earth Day and part of the New York State Canal Corporation and Parks & Trails New York’s Annual Canal Clean Sweep, a state-wide effort to prepare for the navigation season on the New York State Canal System. FUNDRAISER HOCKEY GAME: The Saratoga Springs Professional Firefighters sponsored hockey team (Saratoga Springs Fire) will be playing the Troy Firefighters IAFF Local 86 in a benefit hockey game to raise funds to help repair, renovate and expand the Farm Toy Show Building at the Washington County Fair in Greenwich. The benefit hockey game will be held on Monday, April 22 at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls with a start time scheduled for 6:00pm. Admission is free for the game with donations being collected at the door.

NATURE ON THE MOVE: On Mondays April 8 and April 22 at 10:30 am, Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will be holding its bi-weekly Nature on the Move walks. These walks are led by one of Wilton Wildlife’s Environmental Educators and will take place on the NYS DEC’s Fox Parcel on April 8 and Old Gick Farm on April 22. These walks give participants an opportunity to get out on the trails with like-minded people and observe the beauty of nature in the spring. They are geared towards gentle exercise and are appropriate for adults at basic fitness levels. The group usually covers about 1.5 miles of trail. HOMESCHOOL POPUP PROGRAM: At Moreau Lake State Park, 10am. Join an educator in the nature center to celebrate Earth Day with a “signs-of-spring” treasure hunt. AFTER THE FIRE MEETING: After the Fire’s monthly meeting will be Tuesday, April 23 at 7pm at Halfmoon Town Hall on Lower Newtown Rd. in Halfmoon. After the Fire is a non-profit organization that helps Saratoga County Residents who have suffered a loss due to fire. This is a beginner-rated walk along the Nature Trail with long pauses to sit and enhance our awareness of our surroundings and it is approximately a 2-hour program. WIGGLY WANDERERS: At Moreau Lake State Park, 9:30am. Wiggly wanderers is a casual and fun program that is offered to walking toddlers, carriable babies and their caregivers. This will be a beginner’s hike/wander series for toddlers who are ready to move and caregivers who are willing and able to baby wear and/or carry their toddler if their legs get too tired. We will not plan too much distance walking and we will rely on teachable moments to carry us through these experiences. Strollers will not work for these programs. While you do not need to attend each week, we will continue to build our toddlers hiking skills as well as their caregivers’ confidence taking the children into the woods to explore. TRAIL STEWARD MEETING: At Moreau Lake State Park, 10am. A meeting to introduce the trail steward program to newcomers. The duties of a trail steward include walking the trails of Moreau Lake State Park to identify and report maintenance needs, light trail maintenance including cutting back branches with supplied hand saws and loppers and hanging trail signs when necessary. This meeting will provide crucial information on what to look for on the trails. Established trail stewards are welcome to come, but it is not mandatory. This meeting is free. WORKSHOP AND CONCERT: Dan Navarro will be at Caffe Lena for a songwriting workshop followed by a concert. Tickets are required for each event and must be purchased separately at www.caffelena.org. Workshop: 1-5pm. We explore the essence of verbal and musical expression, through monologue and dialogue, covering philosophies, psychologies and techniques of songwriting — structures, forms, story arc, subject matter, style/genre, the role of repetition, simplicity vs complexity, and critiques (if you wish). Run through your creative paces with positivity and support, and take home concepts that will facilitate creativity on whatever level you choose. CEMETERY ASSOCIATION MEETING: The annual meeting of the Ballston Spa Cemetery Association will be held on Saturday May 4 at 10:30 am in the Ballston Spa Village Library Community Room. CHURCH CONCERT: Saratoga Chamber Players will honor the late Peter Schickele (1936-2024) on May 5 at 3PM at the Saratoga United Methodist Church. Schickele, known for his showmanship, his PDQ Bach recordings, but also for his serious compositions, wrote a rarely heard sextet to be performed by violinists Jill Levy and Lily Holgate, violists Sarah Adams and Michael Roth, and cellists Eric Bartlett and Ashley Bathgate. ARTIST JAM: The second Friday of each month from 4-6 pm at the Galway Public Library, 2112 East St, Galway. Artist Jam is a social event for teen and adult artists in the community to get together and enjoy a relaxing workspace. BALLSTON AREA SENIORS: The Ballston Area Seniors will be meeting at the
Town of Milton Community Center, 310 Northline Rd. Ballston Spa every Thursday at 10 am
to play cards, use the craft room, play pool, or just socialize. Lunch is at 12:00 noon. Bingo after lunch if 10 players or more. At lunch the BASC Members may participate in Congregate Meals OR bring your own lunch, your choice. Pizza every 3rd Thursday at noon. On the fourth Thursday it is Pot Lunch at 11:30 am, to participate bring something to share or pay $ 3.00 at meal time. Coffee and hot water for tea will be available. Regular scheduled activities: 1st Thursday—Bring a lunch, play games, Bingo after lunch if enough players. 2nd Thursday—Bring a lunch, Speaker, General meeting and Bingo if enough players. 3rd Thursday—Board meeting, Pizza, Bingo if enough players. 4th Thursday— General meeting Pot lunch at 11:30 am bring something to share or $3, Bingo if enough players. 5th Thursday— Gameday, general meeting, Bingo if enough players. 1:00 pm—4:00 pm—Table Pool. No activities if Ballston Spa HS closes or has a 2 hour delay.
