Public input meeting on Willits Lane Connectivity April 17 at TACAW

The Town of Basalt is hosting an open house from 4 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 in the Alpine Bank Room at TACAW to get public input on the Willits Lane Connectivity project.

The goal of the Willits Lane Connectivity project is to address desired improvements and connections between the Willits Lane area and historic Basalt, improve multi-modal transportation and experiences, and to continue to provide transportation options and infrastructure to support the Town of Basalt’s climate action goals to reduce emissions 25% by 2025 and 80% by 2050.

The open house offers the public the opportunity to provide the Town with feedback on how they experience the Willits Lane area, the types of transportation they use now, and what improvements they would like to see for transportation options and connections to historic downtown Basalt.

Town of Basalt to celebrate Earth Day with composting event

The Town of Basalt is hosting its first Earth Day celebration in Basalt River Park 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 22. The theme of the event is “Keep Basalt Composty” as the Town is focused on compost initiatives to support reducing the regional waste stream and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from organics.

Activities and amenities include guest speakers, compost demonstrations, free compost bin giveaways, Earth friendly fun and games, local vendors, food and drinks and live music by local band Elk Range in the bandshell.

The event is free and open to the public.  The town is encouraging attendees to consider using alternative transportation to get to and from the celebration.

The Town of Basalt is currently seeking input from residents on how to improve composting rates in town.  A survey can be found on Let’s Talk Basalt.
