NEOM McLaren’s Taylor Barnard was quickest in the rookie free practice session ahead of this weekend’s Misano E-Prix.
All 11 teams ran a single car in what was one of two dedicated rookie tests, along with the post-event test that will follow next month’s Berlin E-Prix.
Barnard’s benchmark of 1m18.762s around the 2.1-mile version of the permanent track in northern Italy was 0.154s quicker than Robert Shwartzman, who was driving for DS Penske, while Formula 2 points leader Zane Maloney was third For Andretti, a further 0.43s back.
Formula 3 racer Tim Tramnitz was fourth for Abt Cupra, ahead of current IMSA front-runner Matt Campbell who was in action for TAG Heuer Porsche.
Two-time TCR Europe and 2022 WTCR champion Mikel Azcona was sixth fastest for ERT ahead of Jordan King and Paul Aron, who will make their race debuts in Berlin for Mahindra and Envision Racing respectively.
Yann Ehrlacher, another international touring car race winner, was ninth quickest for Maserati MSG, with Indy NXT driver Caio Collet 10th for Nissan and Sheldon van der Linde completing the field for Jaguar TCS Racing, albeit after only completing seven laps due to technical issues.
