    What's the story

The much-anticipated Bollywood film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, had a disappointing opening day at the box office. Despite being the second-largest opener of the year after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter (₹24.6cr), it only managed to earn ₹15.5 crore on its debut day. This performance was considered underwhelming given the film's substantial budget of over ₹300 crore.

    Competition analysis

'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' outperformed other new releases

Despite the disappointing start, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan still managed to outperform other concurrent releases. Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, which was released on the same day, garnered a modest ₹7.1 crore in box office collections. The film also surpassed the debut day earnings of 2024 releases like Shaitaan and Crew, which collected ₹15.21 crore and ₹10.28 crore, respectively.

    Film details

Star-studded cast and director of 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is an action-packed film that Kumar compared to a "Bad Boys-like film" during the trailer launch. The ensemble cast includes not only Kumar and Shroff but also Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chillar, and Alaya F. Despite its star-studded lineup and high expectations, the film's opening-day collection fell short of projections.

    Audience reception

Advance bookings and audience response to 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'

Despite the lukewarm start, industry tracker Sacnilk reported that over 1.8 lakh tickets were sold on the film's opening day, generating more than ₹7 crore from advance bookings alone. The majority of these tickets were for the Hindi version of the film, indicating its popularity among Hindi-speaking audiences. However, actual earnings fell short of trade expert Taran Adarsh's projected opening day collection of ₹25 crore.
