    What's the story

Hyundai is making significant progress in the electric vehicle (EV) market with its testing of the CRETA EV in India. The global debut of this model is expected to take place in late 2024. Spy shots reveal that the design of the CRETA EV closely resembles its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, but with unique interior modifications inspired by the new KONA EV.

    Interior design

CRETA EV will offer a three-spoke steering wheel

The interior of the CRETA EV will feature a three-spoke steering wheel and other elements borrowed from the KONA EV. Notably, the drive selector lever will be repositioned from its traditional spot on the center console to the right side of the steering wheel column. This change necessitates a redesign of the center console, providing a unique touch to this new model. It will offer wireless charger, air purifier, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, and much more.

    Enhanced features

CRETA EV to retain dual-screen setup

The dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrument cluster will remain in the CRETA EV, along with several physical controls for easy access. The model is also expected to offer more features and an updated software interface. The exterior design will largely mirror that of the new facelifted CRETA, but with unique EV-specific touches such as a closed-off faux grille, all-new front and rear bumpers, and new aero-optimized alloy wheels.

    Power source

CRETA EV to feature 45kWh battery pack

The power source for the CRETA EV will be a 45kWh battery pack, larger than that in Nexon EV Long Range trim's 40.5kWh unit but smaller than those found in competitors like MG ZS EV (50.3kWh). The electric motor for the CRETA EV will be shared with the new entry-level KONA EV available overseas, with a single, front-axle-mounted motor making about 138hp and 255Nm of torque.
