Moffat County school board makes offer on superintendent position

The Moffat County School District Board of Education has offered the position of superintendent to one of the finalists for the job.

During a special meeting Wednesday, the board unanimously agreed to direct the school board president to enter into contract negotiations with Mathew Neal.

Neal is the president of MRJB Educational Consulting, a position he has held since 2021. Prior to working at MRJB, Neal was a short-term superintendent for the Woodland Park School District in 2021-22.



From 2015-21, he was the superintendent of SAMA IB American Schools Middle East in Kuwait. Neal was also the superintendent of the Sweetwater County School District in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and the director of strategy and innovation for Denver Public Schools.

Neal’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College, a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University and a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California.
