Fears are growing within Waterford that their supporters could be outnumbered at their crucial Munster SHC home game against Cork on Sunday week.
County board secretary Pat Flynn told delegates at last Monday night’s board meeting that ticket sales had been disappointing so far and it was likely Cork would bring more fans to the Walsh Park clash.
“The take-up hasn’t been great. There will be more Cork supporters because they have more season tickets.”

The Waterford News and Star also reported that county chair Sean Michael O’Regan called on supporters to get behind the team.
“We want to get a huge crowd into Walsh Park for the Cork game. I’d ask supporters to get in touch with their clubs and get their tickets as quickly as possible. When Cork come to town, be ready for them, from a supporters point of view in the stand, and shout on the team on the field.”
The recently revamped Walsh Park capacity is capped at around 12,000 with 10,986 attending the last championship match between 10,986.
The Desie lost four of five league outings earlier this year to see them dropped into division 1B in 2025.
