Mateo Heredia’s two-hit shutout leads El Segundo baseball to win over West

Baseball roundup: Heredia struck out three and Louis Church had three hits as the Eagles knocked off No. 1 West Torrance

Louis Church had three hits and scored three runs to lead the El Segundo offense in a 4-0 Pioneer League win over top-ranked West Torrance.

Mateo Heredia drove in two runs at the plate and tossed a two-hitter with three strikeouts for the Eagles (15-5, 6-1). Kyle Whalen had two hits for fourth-ranked El Segundo.

Dylan Smith took the loss for the West (14-7, 7-2). He allowed three runs, two earned, three hits and struck out nine. He also walked five.

LA SERNA 5, REDONDO 4: The Lancers scored three runs in the sixth inning to rally for the nonleague win.

Nick Aguirre had two hits and scored three runs for Redondo (9-11). Dylan Leoff allowed five runs, three earned, five hits and struck out in the loss.

TORRANCE 10, NORTH TORRANCE 2: Anthony Macias and Mateo Rickman hit home runs and Jared Galang turned in another strong performance on the mound to lead the Tartars (13-6-1, 5-2) to the Pioneer League win.

Rickman hit a three-run home run in the third inning and Macias homered in the first.

Galang went the distance for the win. He allowed two runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out 10.

CULVER CITY 10, PENINSULA 9: The Centaurs rallied from an 9-3 deficit to defeat the Panthers (8-13, 1-3) in a Bay League game.

Culver City scored two runs in fifth, fourth in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Ronnie Ogusuku hit a three-run home run and drove in four runs for Peninsula
