The polling process for the Lok Sabha elections to be held in Goa on May 7 will pick up pace from April 12, as the nomination window opens for the candidates and the Election Commission of India (ECI) issues the gazette notification for phase 3 of the elections.
Goa will be among the 94 parliamentary constituencies in 12 states and Union territories, which will go to the polls on May 7. The last date for the filing of nominations for all the 12 states is April 19. Besides Goa, the other states in phase 3
include Assam & Bihar.
Parliamentary constituencies in Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal will also go to the polls on May 7.
The ECI will also issue a separate notification for the Betul constituency in Madhya Pradesh where the polling was supposed to be held in phase 2 and has been adjourned due to the death of a contesting candidate of Bahujan Samaj Party.
With the issue of the election notification, voters have to apply within five days for vote from home or postal ballot request.
