Don Choffel, the owner and co-founder of the beloved, labyrinthine Dickson Street Bookshop in Fayetteville, has died at the age of 90. He was born in 1933.

Choffel founded Dickson Street Bookshop in 1978 with Charles O’Donnell, who died in 2019. Per the above post, the store isn’t going anywhere, and preparations were made in advance for it to continue in his absence.

Choffel’s memorial service will be private. Anyone who wishes to make a donation on his behalf is encouraged to give to “programs that promote literacy.”
