Padstow Distilling appoints UK distributor
Cornish gin and vodka brand Padstow Distillling has announced the appointment of Thorman Hunt as its sole UK distributor.
The distillery is currently establishing new premises, which will allow it to increase production capacity by eight times. Padstow Distilling developed from the former Padstow Wine Company, which changed focus after distilling its first gin in 2019.
With a keen focus on local ingredients, Padstow’s spirits are developed from a grain neutral spirit made from barley grown at local Tregirls Farm. Padstow’s gins “accentuate the rich geography” of their home through botanicals; as well as juniper, coriander seeds, and citrus peels the distillery uses alexander, also known as horse parsley, a coastal plant foraged at St George’s Well nearby to Padstow.
Through the new distribution deal, wine and spirits specialist distributor Thorman Hunt will focus on growing Padstow in the on-trade.
Padstow Distilling founder David McWilliam said: “We’ve always had our website for micro-orders but now we’re expanding and there’s truly no better fit. Thorman Hunt sell an extraordinary range of terroir-driven wines from around the world, so we already share many of the same values.”
The connection with Padstow is a personal one for Thorman Hunt founder Jeremy Hunt. He commented: “I have spent my holidays for over 30 years on Tregirls Farm overlooking the Camel Estuary in Cornwall. We’re very excited by this addition — the gin is outstanding and the fact they go through the arduous process of creating their own base spirit using barley from Tregirls Farm is superb.
“David’s pursuit of provenance and flavour perfectly aligns with our distribution expertise.”
