A real estate consultant in Gurugram has shared that he pays Rs 30,000 a month as his Class 3 son's school fees which the authorities keep increasing annually without offering any explanation to the parents. Udit Bhandari pointed out that if the CBSE school continues to hike its fees by 10 percent every year, he would have to pay around Rs 9,00,000 per annum as fees when his son reaches Class 12.
"My son's school fees have been consistently compounding at 10 percent per annum. The school does not even bother to explain the hike and the higher fee simply appears on the payment app! When parents protested, they said please look for another school for your kids!" Bhandari wrote. "My son is in Grade 3 and it's a reputed CBSE school in Gurgaon. School fees is Rs 30,000/month including meals (excluding bus). If this continues to compound at 10 percent it would be nearly Rs 9,00,000 per annum when he's in 12th."

What initially appeared to be a vent on X soon became viral as it touched a chord with several other parents who too have been affected by the rise in fees of private schools.
Responding to his post, X user Tushar Bhargava (@btushar) commented, "Same here with DPS. You can’t object to anything. Ten percent hike every year, books with inflated MRP they even provide stationery and you can’t buy it from outside. They change dress, shoes every year so nobody can use their old one."
Another user Ankur Gupta (@hon786ey) shared that he pays Rs 22,000 a month for his child's school fees in Gurugram. "Imagine this fee bracket is not even on the higher side in Gurgaon," he said.
"My friend's daughter is in an international board school in Bangalore in Class 2 and her fees are around Rs 8 lakh/annum including food and transportation," added X user Money Matters (@_M0neyMatters). "They increase the fees 10 percent every year plus an additional 20 percent when the kid jumps certain grade buckets. So as per my friend the per annum fees when she reaches Class 12 will be Rs 35 lakh."
