Industry group says resource will help brewers and hospitality companies decarbonise their complex supply chains
The Zero Carbon Forum has officially launched a new directory designed to point hospitality and brewing operators to companies offering sustainable products and services.
The non-profit organisation said the 'Marketplace' registry was the first of its kind, and has been designed to help the hospitality and brewing sectors decarbonise their extensive supply chains.
The Zero Carbon Forum said the registry already connects 63 operators that operate over 35,000 sites to an extensive network of accredited suppliers, including energy companies, food suppliers, sustainable packaging providers, and carbon labelling services.
"The brewing and hospitality sectors have some of the most complex supply chains with a wide range of suppliers from food, linen, to equipment, who may not have the same level of commitment to reducing emissions," said Mark Chapman, CEO at Zero Carbon Forum. "They also often have limited control over their suppliers' emissions from the transportation methods to the suppliers they use."
Chapman said the registry would enable members of the Zero Carbon Forum - which includes 35 per cent of the UK's hospitality and brewing outlets - to "source the best in essential sustainable services and solutions that help accelerate the transformational change the industry needs to make".
All companies listed on Marketplace have been validated by the Zero Carbon Forum as having products and services that can support net zero goals. The annual Marketplace participation fee is £3,000 and a three per cent revenue share of sales generated by being a Marketplace member.
