Forecast in detail

After our burst of 70s in mid-March, we haven’t seen anything this warm since. It’s back today at the same time that the full sunshine of recent says “see you later” for what looks to be a lengthy stretch of mostly cloudy skies, as we contend with shower chances today and tomorrow with more widespread rain potential by late Wednesday through Friday. The weekend cools back closer to normal temperatures as the sun attempts its return.

Today (Tuesday): Partly to mostly cloudy skies are the rule as temperatures trend warmer with afternoon highs in the mid-70s to perhaps near 80. Showers and thunderstorms are possible during the late afternoon and evening, with the potential for brief hit-or-miss downpours. Winds are mainly light from the south at five to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Once past the evening, it’s mostly cloudy, with only a slight shower chance. On the warmer side with lows in the mid-50s to low 60s. Light winds from the south blow around five to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Mostly cloudy with chances for scattered mostly light showers at times, but the majority of the day stays dry as highs hit the low to mid-70s. Light winds are mainly from the southwest at five to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with periods of rain potentially developing by late. Lows are on warmer side in the upper 50s to low 60s. Confidence: Medium

A look ahead

Thursday is our dreariest day in terms of clouds and periods of rain that could be heavy at times. Thunderstorms are also possible, some of which could be intense. Highs range from the upper 60s to low 70s. Conditions turn windy as well. Periods of rain continue for Thursday night with windy weather and lows in the mid-upper 50s. Confidence: Medium

Friday turns cooler and still breezy with more scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm, with highs expected in the low to mid-60s. Friday night may see some evening showers, but we should be mostly drier and cooler with lows in the brisk mid- to upper 40s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend should be dry, but a large upper-level low pressure could still generate clouds during the day after sunnier starts, especially Saturday. Saturday is also still breezy with highs in the low to mid-60s, but Sunday should finally see the winds fade with warmer highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Saturday night should be partly cloudy with lows ranging in the 40s to near 50. Confidence: Medium
