The newly gazetted immigration regulations, which introduced a point-based system for general work visas and the introduction of a remote work visa, will be withdrawn following a procedural error.

This was announced by Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi, during a briefing on the second amendment of the immigration regulations, which were gazetted on 28 March 2024.

The impending withdrawal was prompted by the fact that the regulations were gazetted a day before the closing date for public comments on the regulations.
