Pushing the BJP’s ‘Abki bar 400 par’ rhetoric, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the party is confident of the claim because of the Narendra Modi wave that is not only sweeping states that have a double-engine government but also the rest of
the country.
Congress cannot come back to power for the next 40 years, said Sawant at a corner meeting held at the residence of former minister and BJP leader Dayanand Mandrekar at
Oxel in Siolim.
Also present were Dattaprasad Kholkar and the party’s Siolim mandal president, Mohan Dabhale, among others.
Taking a dig at Congress, Sawant said, “It should tell what it has done for Goa. The Congress also had a double-engine government for 10 years (2004-2014) , but we spent Rs 35,000 crore on Goa”.
He asked Khalap to tell him how much the party spent between 2004 and 2014 on Goa. “Tell me one project that the Centre brought to Goa under the Congress double-engine. We will tell you about 20–25 projects brought by the BJP in Goa,” said Sawant, adding that the Congress only got votes on caste and religion, unlike the BJP, which is going to the polls on the development plank.
Urging party workers to keep aside their differences and work for the Lok Sabha elections, Sawant said, “Vote not only for Narendra Modi and Shripad Naik but also for a developed India.”
Speaking about the work undertaken by their North Goa candidate, Shripad Naik, Sawant said, “Bhau has completed 1,200 projects in the past 25 years.
