'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' dominates advance bookings over 'Maidaan'

    What's the story

When are Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan hitting theaters? This question has become the talk of the town. Initially scheduled for a Wednesday release, both films faced hiccups with Eid falling on Thursday. However, the release plans are now set, and both movies will hit screens on Thursday (April 11). As anticipation mounts, advance booking data shows Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff's action-packed film leading the charge.

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

As it stands now, Ajay Devgn-fronted Maidaan will start paid previews at 6:00pm on Wednesday, while BMCM will have its grand opening on Thursday. It's worth noting that amid this chaos, BMCM is set to have a broader release than the sports drama with nearly a reported 4,000 shows in 3D, Tamil, and Telugu versions. Meanwhile, Maidaan has secured over 3,000 shows.

    Box Office Update

    'BMCM' leads in pre-release sales

Industry tracker Sacnilk has shared data indicating that BMCM has sold a whopping over 20K tickets across India, grossing ₹51.94 lakh (the numbers are subject to change). In comparison, Maidaan has started slow, selling 14,253 tickets with a gross collection of ₹31.02 lakh. Despite this lead, ticket sales for both films remain subdued due to last-minute schedule changes. Now, the big question looms: which film will emerge victorious at the box office?

    About 'BMCM'

Before heading to theaters, know everything about 'BMCM'

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan's title pays homage to the 1998 David Dhawan classic, albeit with a fresh storyline. Mounted on a hefty budget of ₹350cr, the film boasts a stellar supporting cast including Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F in pivotal roles. The plot revolves around elite soldiers joining forces to retrieve a stolen weapon from a masked villain (Prithviraj Sukumaran) bent on India's destruction.

    About the other film

    Here's all about 'Maidaan'

Amid his recent blockbuster success with Shaitaan, Devgn is set to showcase a contrasting role in Maidaan. Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, the film sees the actor embodying the character of Syed Abdul Rahim, a renowned football coach from the late 1950s. Produced by Boney Kapoor and ZEE Studios, the movie also stars Priya Mani and Gajraj Rao in significant roles. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the film a U/A certificate.
