On Monday afternoon, New Plymouth witnessed the brief return of passenger train service, drawing hundreds of tourists to the city’s foreshore railway, bustling with activity.
On the morning of Monday, a group of passengers was let off at Taumarunui to embark on an adventure with the Forgotten World Adventures rail carts heading towards Stratford. Subsequently, the train proceeded to Palmerston North, ultimately bringing 250 passengers to New Plymouth for a day trip.
Margaret and Max Grant from Palmerston North shared that their decision to partake in the trip came after reading an advertisement in their local newspaper. They joined the journey in Taumarunui specifically for the rail cart experience before returning to Palmerston North, while others continued their journey towards Ohakune. Margaret emphasized that the rail carts were among the best experiences they had ever had and highly recommended it.
