Yamuna Expressway Authority releases fund for land acquisition near Noida Airport

With an aim to expedite the process of land acquisition for the development of a dedicated sector for industrial growth, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has released a fund of over Rs 650 crore to the district administration for the acquisition of land along Yamuna Expressway near the upcoming Noida International Airport, officials aware of the matter said.

A senior YEIDA official said that the Authority has to acquire around 244 hectares of land for the development of a dedicated industrial sector named as Sector 10 near Jewar Airport. The acquisition is likely to be completed in next few months, and after that the Authority will be handed over the land for allotment process.

The official, requesting anonymity, said that the Authority has released over Rs 650 crore to the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration that has been entrusted with the task of acquiring the land for the project. The administration is also acquiring the land for the development of different phases of Noida International Airport expansion.

The official added that earlier in February, the Authority had also released Rs 72 crore for the same purpose. “The process of land acquisition is expected to be completed in next few months as the social impact assessment has already been completed. We anticipate that the entire process including the allotment of land for setting up of industrial parks will be over towards the end of 2024,” he said.

YEIDA will utilise the land for the development of Sector 10, which will be an industrial hub near Noida International Airport along Yamuna Expressway.

In the masterplan, Sector 10 has been earmarked for development of industrial parks and the entire sector will serve as an exclusive industrial hub located near Jewar airport or Noida International Airport. The Sector 10 will have five industrial parks – an electric vehicle park, plastic processing park, footwear park, handicrafts park, and transport hub.

The proximity of Sector 10 with the upcoming greenfield airport and quick access to Yamuna Expressway makes it a suitable hotspot for industries, manufacturing units and other industrial activities, another YEIDA official said.

According to district administration officials, the objections and suggestions will be sought from the public under Section 15 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

He said that after all formalities are completed as per the rules, the distribution of land compensation will commence and then acquire the land. The acquired land will be handed over to the Authority for the allotment purpose.
