Moment girl is rescued from drowning off Dun Laoghaire pier during Storm Kathleen
A young girl who was pulled from the sea at Dun Laoghaire during Storm Kathleen survived by floating on her back with her arms outstretched just like in the ‘Float To Live’ advice promoted by the RNLI. The rescuer who jumped from the lifeboat into the sea to save the girl said the fact her puffer jacket had trapped some air and she was floating on her back helped save her life. The drama occurred when the girl, believed to be aged around seven, was swept out to sea from the east pier of Dun Laoghaire harbour at around 8.20pm yesterday evening.
