The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for some areas and a frost advisory for others Saturday night. This means temperatures will drop below freezing, especially in the outlying areas.

Expect lows in the mid-30s, with some spots reaching close to freezing.

Sunny skies for Sunday with a high of 67. Morning temperatures will be chilly, around 35°F, so dress warmly for early activities.

A freeze warning is in effect Saturday night for Durham, Chapel Hill, and northwestern counties. A frost advisory is in effect for Wake County and areas to the east and south. Make sure to protect any sensitive plants and vegetation before going to bed. Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 30s.

Dreamville weekend

The weekend looks sunny with no rain to worry about. Highs will be in the comfortable 60s, but mornings will be chilly with lows in the 30s.

A freeze warning was issued for part of the Triangle overnight from 2 a.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Several other counties will be under a frost advisory.

For those attending the NC State watch party Saturday at Mitch's Tavern on Hillsborough Street, doors open at 11 a.m. and the outdoor event will begin at 5 p.m. The party will close down part of the street from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m, with a big screen and speakers set up outside.

Expect cooler temperatures in the upper 50s by 6 p.m. and low 50s by 8 p.m. You may want to bring a jacket.

Conditions should be cool and dry at the Dreamville Music Festival this weekend. Saturday will be mild and sunny, with temperatures in the low 60s, and Sunday will be even warmer with temperatures in the upper 60s.

With all this warm weather, the flowers and trees are blooming – meaning pollen counts are high. If you're sneezing, that could be why!

Monday will be warm with a mix of sun and clouds, reaching a high of 75. This is also the day for a partial solar eclipse – remember to use proper eyewear to view the sun safely.

Rain chances return on Tuesday, with even warmer temperatures reaching 77. Keep your umbrella handy, as scattered showers are expected throughout most of next week, including Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Colorado State University's 2024 Atlantic hurricane season forecast

On Thursday, forecasters at Colorado State University issued their 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast.

The forecast calls for 24 named storms in the 2024 season, which runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. On average, there are 14 named storms in a hurricane season.

It calls for 11 hurricanes in 2024 when there are typically seven per season.

April 8: Eyes on the skies for a total solar eclipse

We're getting closer to the next total solar eclipse for North America, which is happening on April 8.

We won't see a total eclipse in North Carolina, but lots of people will travel to take it in! Ohio will be the closest spot to drive to from Raleigh for the path of totality.

In Raleigh we'll only see a partial eclipse starting just before 2 p.m. We'll see the maximum effect at approximately 3:15 p.m.

There will unfortunately be some obstruction to those hoping to see the eclipse. It is expected to be overcast in many of the areas in the path of the eclipse.
