UPDATE: Authorities locate suspect after alerting residents of police activity near Gypsum

Law enforcement officers have located a suspect after issuing an alert of police activity near Gypsum, according to an update on the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.

The update stated that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The initial Eagle County alert issued around 3:50 p.m. alerted residents of police activity on Bureau of Land Management land in the Spring Creek area near Gypsum as law enforcement searched for a potentially armed suspect. The alert said officers were searching for a white male with green and yellow hair and a blonde beard driving a silver Ford Focus.

The alert came Friday afternoon from the Palisade Police Department. Department Public Information Officer Wendy Likes said only that the suspect is part of an “open investigation” from that community and provided no other details.
