Cristiano Ronaldo's social media activity caught the eye of Manchester United and Chelsea fans during their thrilling encounter.

The Blues secured a dramatic 4-3 win over United after Cole Palmer netted twice in second-half stoppage time to complete a hat-trick and snatch victory, but some fans were equally entertained by Ronaldo's online posts.

Just after Palmer levelled the game at 3-3 with a penalty, ten minutes into stoppage time, the Reds legend happened to post on social media at the same time in something unrelated to the action at Stamford Bridge.

A photo of Ronaldo smiling whilst on his phone, with the caption: 'Happy days' appeared to his hundreds of millions of followers.

While the timing of the post is was pure coincidence, eagle-eyed fans on social media were quick to remark on the fact that Ronaldo had posted at 10:16pm, exactly when Palmer equalised.

Things soon got much worse for his former side as the Chelsea star then bagged the winner a minute later.

The turnaround marked a total collapse for the Red Devils, who had led 3-2 deep into injury-time courtesy of two Alejandro Garnacho goals either side of a Bruno Fernandes strike.

And the turn of events certainly made life very awkward for Ronaldo.

Supporters flocked to the comments section across Portugal captain's social media, with some convinced the timing had not been by chance.

One fan wrote on X: "Love the timing GOAT", followed by a laughing emoji and a screenshot of the game's scoreline.
