MCSD Whiteboard: MCHS Career Expo
MCSD Whiteboard
One of the most important outcomes Moffat County School District considers for its students is helping those students in their ability to thrive not just in school, but after school ends.
That means post-graduation preparation matters a great deal to the Moffat schools, especially to the secondary schools where that reality is much faster approaching.
At Moffat County High School, the work of preparing a student to not just graduate but succeed after graduation is a big job — but it’s necessary. Moffat County High School graduates are going to be the next leaders of our community and builders of our economy. It’s so important that they be ready to thrive as both employees and employers.
For some, postgraduate success includes a period spent obtaining a degree or more. For others, career goals require certificates or apprenticeships. For others still, the desire is to get right to work after graduating. For all, the goal is success, growth and contribution, and MCHS is working hard to prepare students to achieve those goals.
The Moffat County High School Career Expo, which will take place April 25, is a piece of that effort. In the afternoon, the Career Expo will be open to Bulldog high schoolers to meet, connect with, learn from and potentially make plans with employers from all kinds of industries.
Skilled trades, healthcare, hospitality, engineering, construction and other industries will be represented. It’s a chance for these kids to make critical connections that could lead to valuable opportunities after high school — or even during.
That all takes place from 1-4 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., the Expo opens to the public until 7 p.m.
At that time, we invite job seekers to come and learn from employers from these and other industries to speak with hiring managers looking for those ready to work, or to make a change in career.
It’s important to the district to be a community resource beyond “simply” educating and preparing kids to thrive. We want to help our community thrive. This moment is so important in Craig and Moffat County, and the district is ready to serve.
Businesses interested in being involved in the Career Expo can call 970-826-6392 to learn how.
