Naresh Kumar Goyal, joint registrar of Haryana’s cooperation department, was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Panchkula for alleged corruption, reports the HT.

This is linked to a recent multi-crore rupee scam within the department. Alongside Goyal, 13 others, including 10 senior officials and four private individuals, have been detained by the ACB.

Goyal stands accused of misappropriating government funds worth crores along with his associates. Investigations reveal a scheme where department officials, in collusion with auditors, made personal purchases using government funds, amounting to approximately ?100 crore.

Six gazetted officers, four ICDS Rewari officials, and four private individuals have been identified and arrested.
