SOROCO students testify before legislative committee on climate literacy

SOROCO superintendent Kirk Henwood and two students traveled to the state capital on Thursday to testify before the House Education Committee in support of implementing a seal of climate literacy high school diploma endorsement in the state of Colorado.

Similar to the seal of biliteracy, the seal of climate literacy would demonstrate graduates’ mastery in climate literacy through study of the subject, and completion of an experiential learning project or attainment of green technical skills.

SOROCO students study natural resources, horticulture and earth sciences that would all fulfill the requirements of the Seal of Climate Literacy.

SOROCO is the South Routt School District, educating students from Oak Creek, Stagecoach, Phippsburg, Yampa and rural areas of South Routt County and northern Rio Blanco County.
