Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 11:05AM

KEC International Ltd.(up 13.25%), Energy Development Company Ltd.(up 5.81%), GE Power India Ltd.(up 5.19%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(up 4.88%), Reliance Power Ltd.(up 4.88%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 4.85%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(up 4.83%), GE T&D India Ltd.(up 3.75%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(up 3.13%) and India Power Corporation Ltd.(up 3.11%) were among the top gainers.

Karma Energy Ltd.(down 1.97%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(down 1.58%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(down 1.31%), SJVN Ltd.(down 0.94%), NLC India Ltd.(down 0.78%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(down 0.58%), Inox Wind Ltd.(down 0.15%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(down 0.12%) and PTC India Ltd.(down 0.10%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 71.61 points down at 22363.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 200.72 points at 73676.1 at around 11:05AM.

NTPC Ltd.(up 2.42%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 2.13%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.07%), Coal India Ltd.(up 0.66%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.65%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.56%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.41%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 0.36%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.26%) and Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 0.07%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.74%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.69%), Cipla Ltd.(down 1.66%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.64%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 1.54%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 1.48%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.48%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 1.32%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(down 1.28%) and Nestle India Ltd.(down 1.22%) were trading in the red.
