The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is thrilled to announce that Chef Rogelio Garcia, the creative force behind the resort’s Michelin-starred dining establishment, Auro, has been shortlisted for the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: California.

“We are incredibly proud to see Chef Rogelio Garcia recognized as a finalist for this prestigious award,” says Robby Delaney, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley. “His passion for creating innovative dishes that highlight the finest local ingredients has established both Auro and Four Seasons Napa Valley as must-visit destinations for anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary experience in the heart of Wine Country.”

Regarded as the culinary world’s equivalent of the Oscars, the James Beard Awards celebrate outstanding contributors to the culinary arts, hospitality, media, and broader food industry. The nomination of Chef Rogelio is a clear recognition of his unwavering pursuit of culinary distinction and his efforts to highlight the rich produce of Napa Valley.

Chef Garcia’s culinary voyage is steeped in his Mexican heritage, born in Mexico City and brought up in the esteemed Napa Valley. His culinary passion is influenced by his family’s Mexican roots and the mentorship of Napa Valley culinary legends like Thomas Keller from The French Laundry. His remarkable path in the culinary scene has led him from modest beginnings to celebrated establishments, including roles at Napa’s The French Laundry and Cyrus.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled to be named a finalist for the James Beard Award,” says Chef Rogelio Garcia. “This recognition is a testament to the tireless dedication and passion of the entire team at Auro and Four Seasons Napa Valley. We strive for excellence in every aspect of our craft, and our commitment to authenticity and showcasing the very best of Napa Valley is evident in every dish we create.”

Under Chef Rogelio’s direction, Auro stands out for its exquisite and imaginative cuisine. Signature dishes, such as the refined crudo of dry-aged amberjack paired with a lively citrus aguachile and the opulent A5 wagyu accompanied by golden osetra caviar, narrate the rich story of Napa Valley’s generous land. In light of this significant accolade, Auro has broadened its service hours to welcome guests from Wednesday to Saturday, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, offering an expanded opportunity to indulge in Chef Rogelio’s commendable culinary creations.

The 2024 James Beard Award winners will be unveiled at a gala in Chicago on June 10, 2024.
