Boyfriend of Longford woman Sarah McNally charged with her murder in New York
36-year-old arraigned before sitting of Queens County Criminal Court
Funeral arrangements for the late Sarah McNally are expected to be announced tomorrow (Friday).
The former boyfriend of Longford woman Sarah McNally has been charged with her murder in a New York bar last weekend.
Thirty-six-year-old Marcin Pieciak was arraigned before a sitting of Queens County Criminal Court on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon following the fatal stabbing of Ms McNally at the Ceili House Bar, Maspeth, Queens last Saturday evening.
The court was told Ms McNally was working as a bartender at the popular Queens establishment when Pieciak allegedly walked in and fatally stabbed Ms McNally before then injuring himself.

District Attorney Melinda Katz said the brutal nature of the incident was one which had left the community of Queens and Ms McNally’s home town of Longford in a state of numbed disbelief.
“This is an attack that shocked the community. It was unprovoked and a devastating loss for the family. We are using every resource to make sure there is accountability.”
According to the charges, Pieciak, of 76th Street in Glendale, arrived at Ms McNally’s place of work at 6:30pm where it is alleged the Longford woman, who was described as his girlfriend had been on duty.
Pieciak is then alleged to have stabbed the Longford woman “multiple times” and injuring himself before leaving the bar.
A customer is said to have tried to detain Pieciak after the alarm was raised and police arrived on the scene.
The charges also state police witnessed two knives on the ground after noticing Pieciak drop them as he attempted to leave the bar.
Pieciak, who was remanded and ordered to return to court on Friday, faces 25 years in prison upon conviction.
Meanwhile, efforts to repatriate Ms McNally’s remains to Ireland are continuing.
In a post on its Facebook page, Longford based Glennon Funeral Directors revealed formal arrangements for Ms McNally’s return home would be made on Friday.
The post read: “The death has occurred of Sarah McNally, New York and Longford town, Longford, tragically on 30th March 2024 .
“Sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, her loving mother Dorrie, dear father Des, grandmother Kathleen O’Connor, aunts, uncles, relatives, extended family and a wide circle of friends in Longford and New York
“May she rest in peace.”
