SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — In the high school sports roundup, we look at recent action in baseball, softball, and lacrosse contests across Section 2.

BASEBALL

NISKAYUNA 3, SARATOGA SPRINGS 2: Saratoga Springs took an early 2-0 advantage in the first frame against Parker Aikens with a two-out rally. A Camden Rhude triple to right and a Brady Mills double to right-center accounted for the Blue Streaks offense. Niskayuna countered in the fourth frame against Michael Mack, as Zach Mravlja scored on a three-base error on a ball hit by Cam Grasso to center and a David Sardella RBI single to center squared the contest at two. A Duncan Munro RBI single to left to plate Tatum Hegney in the top of the seventh inning served as the go-ahead run in a 3-2 Silver Warriors victory against the Blue Streaks on Tuesday.

COLUMBIA 6, QUEENSBURY 1: Riding a four-run third inning, the Blue Devils topped the Spartans, 6-1 on Tuesday. Cole Mellen, Steven Heller, Ascher Meilon, and Ronan Kreshik tripled for Columbia and Sean Boniface notched two doubles. On the bump for Columbia, Nolan Romanowski fanned 10 and yielded one run and four hits across four frames. A Luke Mootz sacrifice fly RBI accounted for the sole Queensbury run.

SCHOHARIE 6, GALWAY 1: On Tuesday, Schoharie pitchers Edison Waymen and Isaac Gagnon tossed a combined no-hitter in a 6-1 win. Waymen fanned 10 across five frames. In the losing effort for Galway, Tyler Friedman fanned seven across four frames and Tanner Bernard posted eight strikeouts in three innings.

SOFTBALL

BALLSTON SPA 10, TROY 1: On Tuesday, the Scotties defeated the Flying Horses 10-1. Delivering at the dish for the Scotties, catcher Calleigh Sisk collected three hits and two RBI, Livia Wiltsie posted a pair of doubles and RBI on a 3 for 3 day, Natalia Guthrie doubled, clocked a homer, and plated three. In the circle, Hadley Donnelly went the distance, striking out six. In a losing effort for the Flying Horses, Kaylee Kussler notched a pair of hits.

SARATOGA SPRINGS 9, NISKAYUNA 2: Jackie Cutting did the damage in a Blue Streaks’ 9-2 win against the Silver Warriors on Tuesday. Cutting struck out a baker’s dozen in a complete game outing. Offensively, Cutting helped her own cause with two hits and three runs scored. Emily Ruscio collected a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in two.

BOYS LACROSSE

SOUTH GLENS FALLS 4, QUEENSBURY 8: On Tuesday, the Spartans doubled up the Bulldogs, 8-4. Queensbury goalie Jack Dickerson and the Spartans defense shut out South Glens Falls in the second half to preserve the win in the Foothills opener. Senior Captain Ian Reynolds won 15 of 16 faceoffs and recorded his second consecutive game with a hat trick. Keith Miller potted a pair and added a helper. Kaiden Moore, Hudson DeLisle, Max Maziejka, and Asher Martens accounted for the South Glens Falls scoring.

SHENENDEHOWA 16, BALLSTON SPA 6: The Plainsmen handled the Scotties, 16-6 on Tuesday. The Plainsmen’s, Nate Wolfe reached a milestone with 200 career points, notching three goals and two assists. Mason Carroll matched Ballston Spa with six scores and two helpers. Nick Stockwell netted a hat trick and a helper. Sharing goalkeeper duties for the Plainsmen, Billy Standeart and Jacob Hicokok recorded six and four saves respectively. Declan Phillips led the Scotties with two goals and an assist, and keeper Tim Sikoryak made 11 saves.

GIRLS LACROSSE

SARATOGA SPRINGS 16, NISKAYUNA 15 (2OT): In a wild thriller on Tuesday morning, the Blue Streaks overcame a 9-7 halftime deficit to top the Silver Warriors, 16-15, in double overtime. Scoring was plentiful. Ripping rope for the Blue Streaks was Carly Wise with 10 tallies and a helper. Janie Baringer potted a pair and chipped in three assists. Parker Laurin posted two goals. Jenna Amodio registered 13 saves in the victory. For the Silver Warriors, Ava Roemer posted four goals and two assists. Natalie Zhu also netted a hat trick. Abigail Licht contributed two goals and four helpers.
