Person shot at NC Central residence hall, lockdown lifted
One person was shot Tuesday night at North Carolina Central University.
The shooting sent the campus into lockdown for just over two hours, which has since been lifted.
WRAL News was told the person who was shot was rushed to Duke Hospital. WRAL News is working to learn the victim's condition.
According to the university police, the shooting took place around 10:15 p.m. inside Lawson Residence Hall. The university put the campus on lockdown around 10:23 p.m. and lifted it around 12:25 a.m. Wednesday.

The Durham Police Department closed Lawson Street from Lincoln Street to Fayetteville Street while authorities investigated.
One student said his teacher canceled class after the stressful situation.
"I just kind of feel for people who had to deal with it," said Rocco Andrews, a freshman at N.C. Central. "Actually, one of my classes got canceled because my teachers wanted us to have a mental day to cope with what happened last night.”

During a press briefing around 12:50 a.m., the police chief for the University Police Department declined to say if the victim was a student or if they've identified any suspect(s).
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the campus, and a criminal investigation is underway.
WRAL News is working to learn the condition of the victim and if anyone is in custody.
The university will have counseling available at the residence hall for students and residents beginning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
