The US government has announced a significant increase in application fees for multiple visas. As confirmed by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), immigrant visa fees are effective April 1. The cost of applying for Form I-129 and H-1B registration has increased significantly since April 1.

The US government has announced a significant increase in application fees for multiple visas. As confirmed by the united states Citizenship and Immigration services (USCIS), immigrant visa fees are effective april 1. The cost of applying for Form I-129 and H-1B registration has increased significantly since april 1. These tariff changes could affect indians who want to work or invest in the US, particularly those applying for H-1B, L-1, and EB-5 visas, which are popular choices among Indians. Judge Charlotte N. Sweeney of the Colorado court of Appeals ruled on march 29 not to stay the new fee structure. According to Bloomberg, the judge decided because witnesses against the rate hike were not substantiated. The cost of H-1B registration used to be $10, but now it has risen to $215, a 2,050% increase.
On top of that, currently, you pay $460 to file Form I-129 H-1B, but soon it could increase by 70% to $780.
 L-1 Visa: Fees for obtaining an L-1 visa, which allows employees to travel to the united states from offices in other countries, have skyrocketed. Earlier $460 (around Rs. 38,000), but now $1,385 (over Rs. 110,000).
EB-5 Visa: The fee for an EB-5 visa has increased from $3,675 to $11,160. That's a huge increase! This applies to wealthy indians who want to invest in the US. The fee for Form I-829 used by investors to become GoodReturns permanent residents is now $9,525. This is a 154 percent increase from the old rate of $3,750. The fee for Form I-956 is now $47,695. This is a 168 percent increase from the old fee of $17,795 for Form I-924. From april 1, 2024, the new fee schedule and revised forms will be applicable. USCIS will allow you to use older versions of most forms until june 3, 2024. From april 1, 2024, the new versions of the forms will be available online. After that date, you will not be able to use older versions of the forms. USCIS has told users that if they have new drafts for Form N-400 through their myUSCIS accounts, they should start a new application on april 1.
