Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.73%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 3.13 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 1.92 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.64 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.49 per cent) and MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.64 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.9 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.65 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(down 0.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.73 per cent up at 35047.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 18.65 points at 22434.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 27.09 points at 73876.82.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, Infibeam Avenues and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of J G Chemicals, Goa Carbons, Advani Hotels, Indian Metals and DJ Mediaprint & Logi hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gopal Snacks, Mask Investments, GIR Natureview, BDR Buildcon and IndInfravit Trust hit their fresh 52-week lows.
