Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.

Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(up 7.34%), Future Consumer Ltd.(up 5.89%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(up 4.79%), Varun Beverages Ltd.(up 4.72%), Zydus Wellness Ltd.(up 3.37%), LT Foods Ltd.(up 2.87%), Euro India Fresh Foods Ltd.(up 1.92%), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare Ltd.(up 1.84%), Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd.(up 1.67%) and Dodla Dairy Ltd.(up 1.64%) stood among the top gainers.

Nestle India Ltd.(down 2.65%), Vadilal Industries Ltd.(down 1.72%), Umang Dairies Ltd.(down 1.65%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.64%), Hindustan Foods Ltd.(down 1.37%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 1.34%), Jyothy Labs Ltd.(down 1.21%), Emami Ltd.(down 1.13%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 1.10%) and Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.03%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 18.65 points down at 22434.65, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 27.09 points at 73876.82.

NTPC Ltd.(up 1.88%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.73%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.64%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.54%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.49%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 1.45%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 1.42%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 1.05%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 0.95%) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.88%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Nestle India Ltd.(down 2.65%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 2.11%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.82%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 1.5%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 1.34%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.24%), Cipla Ltd.(down 1.21%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 1.17%), Titan Company Ltd.(down 1.16%) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.08%) closed in the red.
