Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.17%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 5.93 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 3.29 per cent), Sanofi India Ltd.(up 3.15 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(up 1.79 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 3.0 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(down 2.09 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.82 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.23 per cent) and Cipla Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.17 per cent down at 19153.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 18.65 points at 22434.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 27.09 points at 73876.82.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, Infibeam Avenues and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of J G Chemicals, Goa Carbons, Advani Hotels, Indian Metals and DJ Mediaprint & Logi hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gopal Snacks, Mask Investments, GIR Natureview, BDR Buildcon and IndInfravit Trust hit their fresh 52-week lows.
