Radisson Collection has broadened its presence in Italy by launching its sixth property, the eagerly awaited Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica. Positioned in the heart of Rome’s historic city center, the hotel enjoys a privileged setting close to renowned landmarks such as the Altare della Patria, the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia, and the ancient ruins of Largo di Torre Argentina and Capitolium Hill. Embracing its surroundings, the captivating hotel is centered around Palazzo Lares Permarini, a meticulously restored palazzo that serves as a testament to Rome’s rich architectural legacy. With its blend of historic charm and modern luxury, the hotel offers guests an immersive experience in a realm of unrivaled elegance and refinement.

Each of the 84 rooms within the hotel is meticulously crafted to offer stylish sanctuaries, exuding elegance through thoughtfully chosen materials. Luxurious Carrara marble adorns the bathrooms, complemented by artistic Fornasetti wallpaper, sumptuous wooden floors, and contemporary design elements, ensuring an ambiance of refined sophistication. With a refined and cosmopolitan aesthetic, earthy tones harmonize with vibrant accents found in wallpaper motifs, plush furnishings, and local touches. The Panoramic rooms boast expansive terraces offering stunning city vistas, alongside tasteful furnishings epitomizing simplicity and refinement. Spanning 80m², the Friends and Family Stay Rooms cater to groups of up to six adults seeking to savor their time in the Eternal City. Guests can indulge in relaxation at the hotel’s Turkish bath and fitness center, or find solace in moments of luxury amidst the city’s hustle and bustle. With its pet-friendly approach, the hotel ensures that guests can enjoy an ideal getaway with their beloved furry companions.

Chema Basterrechea, Global President and Chief Operating Officer at Radisson Hotel Group, comments: “Our commitment to delivering exceptional luxury experiences is strengthened further with the addition of Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica to our portfolio. The hotel’s alluring aesthetics and ideal location make it a remarkable example of our luxury offering. With this new addition, we take pride in moving closer towards our goal of achieving 30 hotels in Italy by 2027 as a testament to our unwavering commitment to Italy’s tourism industry.”

Through the sensitive renovation of the historic palazzo to create Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica a hidden archaeological gem was uncovered. A fragment of the ancient perimeter wall of the Porticus Minucia from the imperial era was uncovered, allowing for a first of its kind reconstruction. Additionally, a three-dimensional model of the monument was created, making it possible to identify its exact location in relation to today’s urban fabric. During construction, the project was expanded to enhance the archaeological remains, which is visitable in the basement of the hotel, accompanied by a multimedia video presenting the three-dimensional reconstruction of the Porticus Minucia. The excavation, carried out between May and July 2020, was overseen by the archaeologist from the Superintendence, Marta Baumgartner, who expressed her pride in the discovery: “The discovery is a source of pride for us because, for the first time, we see the walls of the Porticus Minucia standing and the marble decorations that adorned them.”

Guests are cordially invited to immerse themselves in the culinary delights of Roma Antica’s restaurant, Modius, where authentic Roman dishes like Carbonara, Gnocchi, and Amatriciana take center stage. Inspired by the historic Porticus Minucia Frumentaria, once a site of free grain distribution, Modius presents a menu highlighting original Roman cuisine crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. This culinary journey is a contemporary tribute to ancient traditions, celebrating heritage, regional flavors, and the timeless bridge between past and present. Rooted in the ancient ethos of “Cura Annonae” or the “Care of Annona,” the Roman goddess of grain supply, Modius honors its rich heritage by offering patrons a wealth of locally procured, premium ingredients expertly prepared to reflect the hotel’s cultural legacy.

For an unforgettable experience, guests can ascend to Modius on the Roof – Terrazza, located on the 8th floor, to relish in breathtaking views and delectable cocktails. This rooftop cocktail bar offers Italian-style snacks and signature drinks amidst awe-inspiring 360-degree panoramas of the Eternal City, showcasing landmarks such as the Altare della Patria in Piazza Venezia and the majestic Pantheon. Modius on the Roof – Terrazza sets the stage for refined aperitivo gatherings, romantic evenings, or lively nights out with friends, all enveloped in the captivating backdrop of Rome’s timeless beauty.

Ruggero Silipo, General Manager, says, “We are delighted to welcome guests to the best address in Rome. Our exceptional cuisine, alluring design, history-rich spaces, and enduring service ensure that guests have an unforgettable experience in the heart of Rome’s historic city center. We take pride in offering warm Italian hospitality that’s sure to leave every guest mesmerized while they immerse themselves in the city’s rich history and culture.”
