The CAA Club Group of Companies (CCG), which oversees CAA South Central Ontario (SCO) and CAA Travel, is introducing The CCG Travel Academy this spring to address a skills gap identified within the travel industry.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, leaders at CAA Travel have observed a shortage of qualified candidates for travel agent positions. This shortage has posed challenges in recruiting individuals who meet CAA’s standards of excellence in customer service and quality care for its members.
“CAA Travel is growing, and we want to ensure that we can continue to provide the top-quality service and expertise that we are known for,” said Catherine Sieniewicz, vice president, Travel and Retail, CAA Club Group of Companies. “As an organization with extensive experience in Associate training, learning, and development, we decided to build a customized, best-in-class program designed to train qualified travel agents from the ground up.”
Annually, CCG’s Learning and Development department conducts numerous in-house courses to foster the growth of associates, tailored to meet specific business requirements. The introduction of The CCG Travel Academy extends this longstanding commitment to supporting associates with educational opportunities throughout their careers.
The CCG Travel Academy is a paid two-month program, initially offered twice in 2024 and then quarterly from 2025 onwards. It merges traditional classroom teaching with hands-on, on-the-job training. New hires will automatically be enrolled in the Academy closest to their start date, with opportunities for job shadowing and hands-on practice embedded within the curriculum. Additionally, reimbursement for travel licensing (TICO) expenses will be provided.
“Participants will gain fundamental industry knowledge, a deep understanding of CAA products and services, and the system and process training that is required to perform successfully in a travel role at CAA,” continued Sieniewicz.
With over 50 years of experience in arranging memorable vacations for Canadians, CAA ensures travelers receive exceptional care, whether planning a quick getaway or a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
To be part of the first group of agents in The CCG Travel Academy, interested individuals can visit our careers website and apply for one of our available travel roles.
