Alimentaria & Hostelco 2024 emerged as the premier event for the food, beverage, catering, and hospitality sectors, featuring a vast array of innovative products. These ranged from Omega-3 enriched cutlets, lamb-flavored vegetables, and gin crafted from Arbequina olives, to solutions targeting diabetes, alongside the integration of robots and AI for enhanced restaurant management and customer service. The event, held in Barcelona, Spain from March 18-21, spotlighted the future of food and hospitality with over 3,200 exhibitors showcasing their latest innovations, largely driven by consumer health and wellness concerns.
Highlights included Cocuus’s ‘Upgrated meat’, a 3D-printed cutlet with vegetable fat, Omega-3, vitamin D, and magnesium; Vicky Foods’ collagen and vitamin B enriched organic fruit smoothies; and Eurocaviar’s fruit spheres. Additionally, innovative offerings such as artisan gin with Arbequina olives, and Bubble Tea featuring fruit jelly bubbles were presented.
The show also introduced AI-powered collaborative robots aimed at transforming the Horeca sector, including robot waiters and smart logistic solutions for hotels and restaurants. AI applications extended from reservation systems to kitchen production processes.
Moreover, 14 pioneering start-ups were spotlighted for their health-improving ingredients and sustainable process technologies.
Organized by Alimentaria Exhibitions, a Fira de Barcelona company, the event welcomed approximately 3,200 exhibitors and 108,000 attendees, with 25% coming from international locations. This edition, featuring over 900 foreign companies, marked its most international turnout, solidifying its status as a key global platform for business, internationalization, and networking within the industry.
