Sporting Club de Goa sailed past 5-2 over wooden spooners Kenkre FC in the I-league Division 2 at Kharghar on Tuesday.
Doyal Alves and Alister Anthony put Sporting Club de Goa in the forefront, whilst Kenkre FC find themselves in a challenging situation as they face the very real threat of relegation, with only matches against top teams remaining after this loss.
The Goan side were coming into the fixture after a three-match winless run and were stunned in the fourth minute when Kenkre captain Raul Almeida gave the home side the lead.
The match began in favor of Kenkre FC as their captain Raul Almeida scored in the 4th minute, but sadly Kenkre FC could not hold on to the lead for too long, as SCG were gifted a penalty in the 10th minute.
Doyal Alves stepped up to do the honors and swiftly placed the ball in the back of the net.
Alister Anthony was not one to be outdone by his fellow striker and was adamant in the attacking and successful in doing so.
Alister gave SCG the lead in the 33rd minute and smashed back another in the 36th minute, giving Sporting a comfortable two goal cushion.
As the first half wound down, Alister Anthony struck once more and sealed the deal for SCG in the 44th minute, earning him his first hat-trick of the season. The first half ended with a scoreline of 4-1 in favour of Sporting.
SCG began the second half with more force and tenacity, Doyal Alves once again netting in the 49th minute giving them a 5-1 lead.
Khanngam Horam of Kenkre FC pulled one back in the 70th minute but it was not enogh for the bottom placed side as match ended in a 5-2 conquest in favor of Flaming Oranje.
The win put Sporting back in the fourth position after nine games as they are on 13 points, a point behind third-placed Dempo SC, who have a game in hand.
FC Bengaluru United lead the standings with 19 points from eight matches while SC Bengaluru are second with 18 points.
Sporting will need to continue with the same momentum when they host league leaders Bengaluru United on April 6 at Tilak Maidan, Vasco.
In the first leg, Sporting had narrowly lost to Bengaluru United by a solitary-goal despite superior ball possession.
