Delhi Excise Policy case: Court orders CM Arvind Kejriwal to remain in judicial custody till April 15
Rouse Avenue court sends Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court today ordered Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to remain in Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till April 15 in connection to a money laundering case linked to a now-scrapped liquor policy.
The Enforcement Directorate informed the court that they may need further custody in the future while seeking Kejriwal’s judicial custody.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the ED, stated at the hearing today that the agency is not requesting any more remand in view of the Supreme Court’s recent judgment in Senthil Balaji’s case.
SV Raju maintained that Kejriwal was giving authorities evasive replies and acting in a totally non-cooperative manner when he was in custody. The Delhi Chief Minister was misleading investigation into the liquor case, he added.
Kejriwal is intentionally not giving the passwords of the electronic devices, SV Raju added.
In the future, they might need custody. That is the sole intention behind the statement, SV Raju said the court.
The lawyers for Arvind Kejriwal have also filed a petition to let the Delhi chief minister read three books: Ramayan, How Prime Ministers Decide by journalist Neerja Chaudhary, and Bhagavad Geeta.
Meanwhile, earlier today when Arvind Kejriwal was being brought before a lower court, he criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that anything the latter is doing is not good for the nation.
During the hearing today, Delhi CM’s wife Sunita Kejriwal AAP ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj were present in court.
However, earlier, the investigation agency requested a seven-day extension of Kejriwal’s detention, claiming that further questions about the AAP chief’s involvement in money laundering needed to be answered.
The magistrate court on March 28 prolonged Kejriwal’s ED custody for a mere four days, until April 1, after the latter claimed that the ED’s goal was to destroy the AAP while he, in an unusual move, presented his own case.
