Four women-led series and films by Karan Johar and Dharmatic Entertainment: There could not have been a better time than the month of March – when we celebrate Women’s History Month - to release the OTT film Ae Watan Mere Watan starring Sara Ali Khan. The Murder Mubarak actress stars as freedom fighter Usha Mehta who started an underground radio station to spread the message of unity in 1942. It comes as no surprise that it is Dharmatic Entertainment backing the project which releases on March 21 on Amazon Prime Video. After all, Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, which is the digital extension of his production house Dharma Productions, has been the force behind many women-led shows and films ever since they launched their venture in 2018. Yodha’s dwindling box office collections of Day 7 of the release: In the last few years, Sidharth Malhotra has proven himself as a capable action star, mostly starring in projects to do with nationalism and patriotism. In 2021’s successful Shershah based on the life of Indian Army Officer Vikram Batra, Malhotra was critically-appreciated for playing the role of the real-life martyr. He followed it up with Mission Majnu in which he played a RAW field operative during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. It has just been three months into 2024 and we have seen the actor don the uniform in two projects – as a police officer in the web series Indian Police Force and as an army officer in the recently-released Yodha. Digital creator Bhuvan Bam and cricketer Shikhar Dhawan unite for IPL video: One of the biggest YouTube stars in the country, actor Bhuvan Bam, is known for collaborating with some of the most popular names from the world of entertainment and showbiz. Now, with the Indian Premier League (IPL) season getting into full swing, it was just a matter of time before Bam collaborated with one of the best cricketers in the league and in India. Bam recently shot a special video with eminent cricketer Shikhar Dhawan. Lootere actor Rajat Kapoor says he is a very submissive actor: Actor Rajat Kapoor and director Hansal Mehta have known each other for more than two decades but the duo worked together for the first time in 2020’s mega-hit series Scam 1992. Although Kapoor had a small but impactful role as a CBI officer, the Kapoor & Sons actor thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hansal’s son Jai Mehta was an Assistant Director on the series and Kapoor got to know his craft as well. His working experience with the Mehtas is one of the primary reasons that he agreed to become a part of Disney + Hotstar’s Lootere. Read more
Sunil Grover and Kapil Sharma reunite for The Great Indian Kapil Show: Seven years after a fallout with stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover is re-uniting with his co-star of many years in The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix which is all set to begin from March 30. The other cast members include Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur and Archana Puran Singh. For those not in the know, Grover and Sharma were part of the hugely successful The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony for many years but prior to that, they had also worked on Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors.
