Firefighters were fighting a massive blaze at an apartment complex in Lomita on Saturday evening, March 30, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the 2100 block of Palos Verdes Drive at around 6:50 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a structure fire.
The fire was upgraded to a third alarm at around 8:30 p.m., drawing a large response from the department.

It’s unclear how the fire started, or if anyone has been injured. TV news broadcasts showed enormous flames stretching into the sky as the fire burned through the building.
The fire prompted authorities to close Palos Verdes Drive North between Palos Verdes Drive East in Rolling Hills Estates and Rolling Vista Drive in Lomita.
“We ask that you please stay away from the area and make alternative travel arrangements,” the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s Lomita Station said on social media.
