Collecting excess toll amounts from the consumer proved costly for the toll plaza management. While hearing the case, district Consumer Forum Rewari has made an important decision. The toll plaza management will have to pay compensation of Rs 10,000 and also the expenses of the case. The Consumer Forum has also ordered to return of the excess toll amount taken. Advocate Kailash Chand said that consumer Ramkishan saini was going to Narnaul with his family on 13 september 2022 in a private car. The vehicle reached Kathuwas toll plaza.

Toll plazas recovered more amount from the consumer

As per the rules, a payment of Rs 65 was automatically deducted from Fast Tag. Consumer Ramkishan returned the same day at 8:17 pm. While coming from Narnaul to Rewari, the train again reached Kathuwas toll plaza. As per the rules, Rs 35 was to be deducted automatically from Fast Tag. There is a provision to take half the money if returned within 24 hours. Kathuwas toll plaza charged Rs 65 instead of Rs 35. The toll plaza employees did not pay attention to the complaint regarding the recovery of the excess amount.

Consumer Forum imposed compensation of Rs 10 thousand

 The advocate says that the consumer had also sent a legal notice in this regard to the toll plaza management. The toll tax plaza came into action immediately after receiving the notice. An amount of Rs 35 was deposited in the complainant's account. By then the complainant had appealed to the consumer forum. Its objective was also to stop harassing the common people with toll tax. Consumer Forum summoned the toll plaza management. There was vigorous debate from both sides. The Consumer Forum gave a strict order after listening to both parties. According to the order, the toll plaza management will pay Rs 10,000 to the consumer. Along with 9 percent interest, compensation will also be included.
