Up to 6,000 asylum-seekers have been given the right to remain in Ireland but must stay in the direct provision system as they cannot find alternative accommodation.

Figures given to Aontú TD Peadar Tóibín by Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman show the International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) is currently accommodating nearly 27,000 people in more than 200 accommodation centres throughout the country.
