Five teens driving a stolen car were ejected during a joyride, rollover crash that killed one of them and closed northbound Interstate 225 for several hours Saturday morning.
Aurora police responded to reports of a crash on I-225 at Alameda about 7:30 a.m., department spokesperson Matt Longshore said. Five teenagers were thrown from the car during the single-vehicle crash, and paramedics transported four to a hospital, Longshore said.
One of the four passengers, a 15-year-old girl, died from her injuries, the Aurora Police Department said in a 5:40 p.m. update.
The fifth teenager was checked by paramedics and released to a guardian.
Northbound I-225 was closed at Alameda for more than four hours during the investigation and clean-up. The highway reopened about noon, Longshore said.
The crash was under investigation, and officers are unsure what charges will be filed, Longshore said.
UPDATE: All lanes have been reopened. This remains an active investigation.
