Shooting woes, turnovers hurt Duke women in Sweet 16 loss to UConn

Portland, Ore. — The Duke women's basketball team saw its season end in a 53-45 loss Saturday night against UConn in the Portland Regional.
The No. 7 seed Blue Devils struggled to generate offense, turning the ball over 23 times and only scoring six points in the opening quarter. UConn led 23-13 at halftime after Duke's Ashlon Jackson hit a 3-pointer.
Duke hit just 5 of 24 shots from the field in the first half as the Huskies (32-5) built a comfortable lead.
Duke rallied in the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to 48-43 with just under two minutes to play on a 3-pointer from Oluchi Okananwa. The Blue Devils got no closer than five points.
Okananwa led Duke in scoring with 15 points.
The 3-seed Huskies won their 12th-straight game and were led by Paige Bueckers' 24 points.
Duke finished the season 22-12.
