Historical Society returns 500-page volume to town

WENDELL — A 500-page volume was recently returned to the town by the Wendell Historical Society.

The volume contains town clerk records from 1953 to 1969. At least 30 other documents from Wendell’s early history were also returned to the town in celebration of the Wendell Historical Society’s first birthday.

Senior Citizens Club meeting to include slideshow

ORANGE — The Orange Senior Citizens Club’s meeting on Thursday, April 4, will include a slideshow of the beauty Orange has to offer.

Janice Lanou’s program, “Down Memory Lane,” will present a kaleidoscope of houses, ponds, lakes, foliage and the landscape of the town starting at 1 p.m.

This is a regular monthly business meeting at the Orange Senior Center at 62 Cheney St. and all members are invited to attend. Guests and new members are always welcome. Any local resident age 50 or older is eligible to become an Orange Senior Citizens Club member. Dues are $5 per year.

The April meeting’s agenda includes the March meeting’s minutes, the treasurer’s report and committee reports. New business and old business will also be discussed. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided.

Weinstein steps down from four town bodies

ORANGE — Sandra Fawn Weinstein formally stepped down from four boards and committees at the March 27 Selectboard meeting.

Selectboard Vice Chair Pat Lussier read letters of resignation, dated March 20, announcing Weinstein’s departure from the Trustees of Soldiers’ Memorials and the Orange Master Planning Committee. The letter stated the Master Planning Committee was dissolved in January 2023 but that Weinstein was still listed as a member.

Two other letters, dated March 14 and also read by Lussier, consisted of Weinstein rescinding her request to be reappointed to the Historical Commission and the Armory Commission.

An email sent to Weinstein seeking more information was not returned by press time on Friday. She is still listed as a Finance Committee member on the town’s website.

Blood pressure clinic set for Orange on April 4

ORANGE — The North Quabbin Health Collaborative will hold a free blood pressure clinic at the Orange Council on Aging, 62 Cheney St., from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 4.

High blood pressure can cause health problems such as stroke, vision loss, heart failure and kidney failure.

The North Quabbin Health Collaborative was founded through an agreement between Orange and New Salem, Warwick, Wendell and Petersham. Orange, the lead municipality, provides cooperative public health services.
