Kareena Kapoor to make Telugu debut as Yash's sister in Toxic

Kareena Kapoor’s name has long been attached with the Kannada film Toxic, to be directed by Malayalam filmmaker Geethu Mohandas. The film stars Yash in the lead and for months now, it has been rumoured that Kareena Kapoor is in talks to play the lead in the film. However, it now appears that Kareena will play the role of Yash’s sister in a power-packed role. If the report is true, this will mark Kareena’s first Kannada film.

Toxic, according to reports, will be “a brother-sister story with Yash and Kareena playing inseparable siblings. The director was keen to have Kareena on board in Toxic from the inception of the project. Everyone presumed Kareena was being brought into the project as Yash’s leading lady.” Meanwhile, it is also rumoured that Shruti Haasan could play the lead role.

Meanwhile, the makers recently issued a statement requesting fans not to speculate the casting. The joint statement from KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations read, “There are many unsubstantiated theories and information doing rounds about the casting of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. We truly appreciate the excitement around Toxic, but at this point, we would request everyone to refrain from speculation. The casting process for the film is near completion, and we are thrilled with the team we have onboard. As we gear up to bring this story to life, we request everyone to wait for the official announcements.”

Toxic will be a special film for Yash’s fans. Since the release of KGF: Chapter 2, the actor has not appeared on the big screens. This forthcoming film will present him in a new avatar, as shown in the teaser.

In a previous interview, Kareena Kapoor Khan talked about her next venture. She said, “Now, like I said, I might be doing a very big South film. Now it’s like, all pan-India, so I don’t know where I’ll be shooting, but I’m excited for all my fans to know that it’s going to be the first time that I will be doing this.”

Toxic will hit the theatres on April 10, 2025. The motion poster was launched last year.
